It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

December 2 – 17, 2026
Waterfront Playhouse, Mallory Square, 407 Wall Street
The Waterfront Playhouse’s holiday show turns the theatre into a 1940s radio studio for It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, Joe Landry’s adaptation of the Frank Capra film. A small cast plays every role, performing the story live at microphones the way a radio drama would have been broadcast in the era.
The production includes live Foley effects created onstage, a jazz trio, and original jingles written for local Key West businesses — the commercial breaks a 1940s broadcast would have carried, rewritten for here.
The story is the familiar one: George Bailey, a run of bad luck, and an angel named Clarence sent to show him what Bedford Falls would look like if he’d never been born.
