Description

Let your rendezvous with paradise begin at the Campbell Courtyard compound in the heart of Old Town Key West. Campbell Suite, a second & third floor condo with one bedroom and 1½ baths, is the perfect place to anchor your vacation. It starts with the white stucco building that houses this suite and others. The three-story building was constructed in 1910 for Dr. J. G. Campbell, a surgeon dentist specializing in gold crowns, bridges, and plate work. Locals talk of how the structure was used as a spy headquarters during WWII but, of course, no records seem to exist to confirm that. The front staircase leads up one flight from Fleming, one of the most historic streets in KW. The back staircase overlooks and leads down to one of the most delightful, secluded, and quiet courtyards and pools in town. And if that's not enough, you are only two blocks from the world-famous Duval Street, home to everything exciting, historic, funky, and weird about this one-of-a-kind tropical island community.

Up one flight of stairs, the solid front door to the condo swings into an open floor plan flooded with ambient light. The wall to the right has a sliding glass door that opens to a small balcony with two chairs and cocktail table. Sitting here is a tree-house-like experience. Relax. View blue skies, rooftops, and large areas of swaying palms. If you've come to Key West for outdoor living, this might be your go-to spot for morning coffee or happy hour drinks. As is a common practice where space is at a premium and the weather temperate, the washer and dryer are located, conveniently, in a small closet to the right of the balcony seating area.

Back inside, a couch and chair offer a cozy setting for conversation while a ceiling fan whirrs above, gently moving air and adding a certain Bogie & Becall ambiance to the area. A flatscreen TV is located here for viewing from the roomy couch. It's a great spot for catching up on some vintage movies filmed in the Keys like Beneath the Twelve Mile Reef (1954) or binge-watching a Keys TV series like Bloodline (2015-2017). Of course, there's cable, high speed wireless internet, a shelf stereo system, and central AC. The Blu-ray DVD player has Netflix access. A round table with two chairs offers a spot for eating or mapping out sightseeing destinations for the day. On the opposite wall is a book cabinet brimming with years of reading material and a basket of beach towels for your inevitable trips to the water's edge.

A generous-sized kitchen offers everything you'd need for preparing a four-course meal. Or if your style runs more toward warming leftovers from some luscious restaurant meal, that's a snap, too. A large window over the sink is the visual center of the kitchen, pairing beautifully with the recessed spot lighting, a double sink, stainless appliances, a long prep counter, and copious wooden cabinets above and below.

Across from the kitchen is the convenient and nicely appointed guest half bath. And beside that, a dramatic spiral staircase leads up to the bedroom level. At the top, the master bedroom offers a comfy king bed, a full bath, a closet that accommodates hanging and folded items, and a full-length mirror. Like the living-room balcony below, the windows in this space allow views of lovely foliage swaying in tropical breezes. A chest of many drawers provides even more space for your travel accouterments, while an armchair with lamp makes a spot for reading or maybe just a quick sit-down to put on your Crocs or flip flops. There is a wall mounted TV and DVD player here as well.

If you like to swim or are a sun worshiper, you still haven't explored the best part of this rental: the courtyard and pool. The pool, which is for the exclusive use of Campbell Courtyard guests, is larger than your typical Key West dipping pool. Rather, it is temperature controlled and generously sized by Key West standards. The pool/deck area is ringed with a white picket fence and plenty of foliage to create beauty, privacy, and the kind of tranquil peace of mind only nature can provide. Chaise lounges and chairs sit invitingly right next to the pool. Or if shade is more appealing, claim your spot under the market-umbrella seating area.

The whole set up at Campbell Courtyard is alluring but there's more-a whole storied island awaiting your exploration: the emerald water of the Atlantic and of the Gulf of Mexico, beaches, conch-style houses, Civil War forts, museums, famous hangouts like Sloppy Joe's, Elvis look-alikes, a new waterfront park, and scary sharks at the Aquarium. From your central location on Fleming Street, most things are easily accessible by foot or bike or the free bus service called the Duval Loop. For example, the island's main artery-Duval Street, where you'll find shopping of all sorts, art galleries, tours, open-air restaurants, bars, and much more-is less than two blocks away. Or a few blocks in another direction you'll find the Historic Seaport with more restaurants, tall-ship sunset sails, more watersports opportunities than you could possibly take advantage of, and waterfront restaurants of varying degrees of informality. Set your timer so you don't miss the nightly sunset celebration at Mallory Square where visitors and locals alike gather to applaud as the sun slips below the horizon.

Great service. Was contacted early to see if we needed any extra services/concierge assistance. They even allowed us to check in a little early. Rental was in great condition and location. Very Clean. VERY well appointed. Cannot think of anything that needs improvement.

We have stayed in the Campbell suite several times now. The location is perfect for us as it is within walking distance of many of our favorite restaurants and the activities of Duval street. The apartment has all the comforts of home plus a nice pool to relax in on hot afternoons.

The suite was extraordinary clean and exceeded our expectations.

The suite was extraordinary clean and exceeded our expectations. Exactly as pictured. The property was quiet and beautiful. Only improvement I could suggest are better quality pot/pans. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay there again and/or continue booking with Historic Hideaways. Super satisfied. Keep doing what your doing. Definitely keep your housekeeping staff as we thought this unit was remarkably clean. We were very comfortable. The suite was brilliantly decorated and added to the Old Key West vibe. Thank you.

The space was perfect for the two of us. Having the pool to cool off in and being so close to everything made the trip all the better! Quiet space to retreat to - but just a few blocks from all the activity.

The condo had everything we needed for our stay. It was very clean and the location was great! The balcony was very tiny, and there is no view from there, but overall it was a great time and very nice condo. Loved the king size bed!

We would definitely stay there again.

This was our first trip to KW and with the pandemic we wanted a place with a kitchen in case restaurants shut down. While we were unaffected by it, we did have tropical storm Eta interfering with plans. It was great to be able to go to the grocery store a few doors down and get supplies just in case. The home was cozy and perfect for 2 people. We loved the layout and décor. It was stocked with everything we needed. It was very close to Duval St and actually close to just about everything...

Can't wait to stay again!

My daughter and I stayed here for 5 nights and it could not have been better! We loved everything about the property from the layout, comfort of the bedding, sofa and the convenience to activities and restaurants. The only warning I have is regarding the old grouchy man below...he does not like if you talk on the phone on the balcony! I only answered my phone one time on the balcony and he quickly told me to take it inside! Of course this is no fault of the unit, rental management or owners - just an important note to share.We are working on our return and plan to stay again!

Our second time renting with Historic Hideaways and first time in the Campbell Suite and we were very pleased with the service from HH both times. They made it so easy for us to do a late-check-in and check-out and were very accommodating and kind. Campbell Suite had everything you need for a week in Key West- all we had to bring was our belongings and some grocery items. The rental was very clean and cozy with nice linens and towels. We really appreciated the use of beach towels for trips to the beach or pool. The pool was very nice and clean with comfy chairs for lounging. Despite being in a building with multiple apartments, it was really quiet during our stay. We also liked that we could access Netflix on the TV and that we had our own private washer/dryer. The location is great, only a couple of blocks from Duval and one block from a great local grocery store, Fausto's, that we love. I highly recommend renting with Historic Hideaways- we have not been disappointed!

This little gem is in the PERFECT location and has all the amenities one could ask for. The bed was comfy, the water pressure was great and the A/C worked wonderfully! It was great to have our very own washer and dryer, and full sized refrigerator as well. The building was clean and quiet, the pool and courtyard area are lovely, and we iked that it was on Fleming..a one-way streed. Fausto's Food Palace is a block away as is a coffee shop and Clemente's Pizza, which has THE BEST wood-fired pizza!! We're already thinking about when we can return to the Campbell Suite. We truly had a wonderful stay!

The location is where you want to be if you are walking your whole vacation, you wont need a car if you are mainly going along the strip. The condo is very nice and is in a quiet neighborhood, and has a heated pool on the property. The only drawback is if you can't climb stairs this isn't the property for you, otherwise I see no bad features to not stay there. There is a free Loop Bus that takes you around the Duvall Loop, and it is free and a stop is across the street on the next block at the Library, we used it many times, one stopis at Fort Zachery Taylor, which has a nice beach.

We have stayed in Key West several times now, but the Campbell Suite has been by far the most ideal rental. It is central walking to almost anywhere that you would like to go. There is a small grocery store, a coffee shop, pizza place and even a used book store just a few blocks away. We loved this location. The unit it self had everything that you could want for the week. Clean and efficient.

It was perfect in every way.

This was our first stay in Key West and it wont be our last at this outstanding accommodation. It was perfect in every way. Very well equipped. The Owner provided about everything a guest would need. The condition of the unit was excellent. The living and dining space had very comfortable furnishings and the bed upstairs was one of the most comfortable we have slept in. The location could not have been more central to great restaurants and activities in Key West. We parked our rental car the afternoon we arrived on the street about a block from the apartment and never moved it until the morning we left a week later.

We found the unit on FlipKey but it is managed by Historic Hideaways. Historic Hideaways was easy to deal with. I made the reservation by phone but the rest of the stuff was done by email. The gentleman we dealt with for check-in and check-out was very pleasant and helpful. We were very happy with the unit. It was close to Duval Street but away from the noise. The bed was excellent. We both slept so well that we want to find out what kind of mattress, so we can get one for home. We ate all our meals out but there was a complete kitchen so we could have cooked in. There was a grocery store down about a block and an organic food market a block or two the other way. We rented bikes one day from a place a 5 minute walk away, but they would have delivered. No shuttle service came with this unit but the taxi to and from the airport only cost $9 per person. The driver stopped for us to pick up the keys for check in and then took us to the unit and it worked as well the other way when we left. The pool was clean, although not huge. We were the only ones there when we went. Although this unit was a little pricer than some of the others we considered we would definitely rent it again.

The Campbell Suite was excellent in every way. Everything was provided, making it extremely comfortable. Private laundry was a great bonus and the pool couldn't have been better. The only negative I could find would be that there isn't a grill provided. Overall, absolutely awesome.

We have stayed at the Campbell Suite for 3 years now and have loved every minute.

We have stayed at the Campbell Suite for 3 years now and have loved every minute. The location is perfect for everything from going to see the sunset to a casual walk to the wharf. There are tons of great restaurants within a 10 minutes walk and Duval is only 2 blocks up Fleming. The staff at Historic Hideaways are great work with. They are helpful and accommodating. Well be back for sure!

We really enjoyed staying at the Campbell Suite. It served our requirements nicely. The amenities and location were excellent. Potential visitors do need to note that the entrance to the unit is on the 2nd floor, and there is also a circular metal staircase to get from the living area of the unit up to the bedroom. So occupants do need to be reasonably fit to do the stairs and get their luggage up there. We had no problems with this, but others need to be aware depending on their individual circumstances.

First of all I would like to thank Tim for all his effort he put in to helping us with or vacation reservations. We had to make several changes he was very accommodating. Our accommodations was very clean and well maintained. The garden area was beautiful and well groomed. I would rent this property again.

The reservation process was easy. HH responded quickly and completely to any questions we raised. The property was perfect for our needs. It was well finished and in very good condition. The central old town location aligned with our activity plans as we could easily walk or ride our bicycles to desired destinations. The pool was a very nice way to end a day on the beach or walking/riding around town. There was no one outstanding feature but the total package exceeded our expectations. There are only a couple of minor issues. There were several lights which did not function and the downstairs TV was a bit difficult to navigate. Too many remotes required.

Staying at the Campbell Suite is like coming home. We have plenty of room to relax after a day of seeing the sights of Key West. The location is perfect. We can walk to all of our favorite places in just a few minutes. Love it!!

We stayed 6 nights in the Campbell suite this December, and we loved everything about it. The bed was super comfy, the kitchen was very well stocked for preparing meals and frozen drinks, the balcony was private, the pool was heated, yet quite small. Parking was at a premium, however we had our bikes that we could store inside the secure courtyard. A grocery store is just one block away that has everything you will need for your meals, drinks, snacks. There was ample room for the two of us. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to Key West. We rented from HistoricHideaways and they were easy and quite helpful!!!

We rented this condo for a week from Historic Hideaways. The condo itself is very nice and some upgrades have been made from the photos. It was perfect for my husband and I. The Campbell Suite is very well stocked, it had everything we needed to cook a few meals and there were extra paper products. It was also very nice to have the washer and dryer in a closet off the porch. The location is perfect. Very close to Duval St. and equally as close to the historic seaport where we ate most nights. We were worried about the parking situation, but we're pleasantly surprised. We were able to find a spot on in front of the unit on Fleming St all week. Although we were there during the slower tourist season. Overall we loved the Campbell Suite and would highly recommend it and Historic Hideaways for anyone looking for a great rental property in Key West.

We had a wonderful week staying in the Campbell Suite. The location was perfect. We where in walking distance to everything. Hideaways was very kind and super helpful. I was in need of a hair dryer and one magically showed up at the front door! I give the experience as a whole 5 stars and hope to visit again soon!

We have stayed in Key West several times now, but the Campbell Suite has been by far the most ideal rental. It is central walking to almost anywhere that you would like to go. The location(Fleming Street) is ideal. Our unit came equipped with everything we could want and then some. Historic Hideaways, the agency overseeing our rental, was superb. The unit is on two floors which could be a problem for someone with mobility issues.

My husband and I absolutely loved this precious suite in one of the most beautiful parts of historic Key West. We were able to walk to almost every part of the area that we visited during our week in January. Even though there was no designated parking we were able to unload and find a parking spot within two blocks. We enjoyed the many quaint eating places and the neighborhood grocery. I particulary loved the great little kitchen for morning coffee and snacks and the access to our own washer and dryer. We would recommend Campbell Suite to anyone as long as they were able to climb flights of stairs.
