FALL SAVINGS! Help tourism recover with this post Hurricane Irma special: 10% off published rates until November 30th, 2017.

This two-bedroom, two-bath classic contemporary is the perfect headquarters for your dream vacation. The entire inside is painted cloud white. This choice creates not only a crisp, clean elegance but also serves as the perfect backdrop for an amazing art collection. It's fitting that this special residence isn't designated merely by a street number but rather is named Valhalla. Of Norwegian descent or not, in a short time you'll come to appreciate the reference to heaven, to a personal piece of paradise.

Start your tour in the pool area, which easily comprises half the property. How appropriate this outdoor space allocation is for an island boasting 260 sunny days per year. If you're like most vacationers, you'll want to spend a large chunk of time floating or swimming or just dangling your toes in the sparkling blue water.

If you're ready to read or nap, move from the heated waters of the Riviera-shaped pool to the stone deck and sink into lime-green chaise lounge chairs. Small cocktail tables wait nearby for your iPad or Kindle and beverage. You can stretch out in sun or shade depending on the time and the play of sunlight through the verdant tropical foliage ringing the deck area.

And when you want complete shade, move to the adjacent wood-planked, roofed veranda. Here you'll find potted plants, a conversation area, a dining area for six, and a barbeque grill. Sit to enjoy some fresh tropical fruit or a sinful slice of Key Lime pie. This sheltered space is also perfect in case of brief tropical showers. You can enjoy the rain and soak up the healthy effects of negative ions while staying dry and comfortable.

Now step through the back door to enter the house. You're immediately in a "great room" that serves as the family room, TV or movie viewing room, living room, and study. The great room centers around a white couch with three cinnabar pillows arranged among white cushions. The red/orange square pillows reference the three framed paintings on the wall above. These works create a stunning contrast of vibrant palate of reds, blues, yellows against the rectangular white wall and vaulted ceiling above. Everything is white except the art in this room, down the hall, and in the bedrooms. The collection is eclectic and diverse, ranging from ancient to contemporary, from local to world famous, from found objects to sculpture to carvings to paintings.

To the right as you stand at the back door is a compact, functional kitchen that has everything you need to whip up some delicious one-bite appetizers or full meals. A wrought-iron rack suspended from the ceiling puts cookware and utensils at your fingertips, adds visual interest, and maximizes storage space. On the left is a convenient open-shelf pass-through that compliments the open floor plan.

From the kitchen, move down the hallway, which has more fabulous art on the right and three doors on the left. The first and third doors open into comfortable bedrooms and the one in between is a full bath. The first bedroom offers a queen bed with puffy white duvet, white bed linens, white louvered closet space, white dresser, and more colorful art. The second bedroom, the master suite, features a queen bed dressed in puffy white linens as well with the added convenience of another full bath. You know by just looking that you could sleep peacefully in either bedroom.

But before bedtime, there's vacation fun to be had: the tours, beaches, museums, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants await you. To know what the Southernmost City has to offer from minute to minute, get a copy of Paradise, the free weekly round-up of local activity available almost everywhere or check the Calendar page at milezerokeywest.com. Both sources list the current music scene, movies, plays, gallery openings, and charitable events just to name a few. You will find plenty to entertain you. And you can still look forward to going back to your own private heaven, sleeping soundly, and getting up tomorrow to do it all over again. And at vacation's end, Valhalla will stick in your mind, will call you back.

To know what's going on from day to day, check out Historic Hideaways' informative Events page on our website. Other information on the current music scene, movies, plays, gallery openings, and charitable events include milezerokeywest.com and Paradise, which comes out every Thursday.

"Wonderful place to stay!"

5 of 5

Vahalla was a great place to stay! It had everything we needed. I was so happy to do laundry throughout the week & washed all our clothes before packing them up. This made unpacking a cinch. I also ironed while there. It's the little things that make me happy! The pool was great. The living room chairs were my favorite after walking in the humid heat & enjoying a nap in the air conditioning. We bought seafood from a local food market on Eaton & it was fantastic to be able to grill at the house. My only regret was leaving my frozen chocolate covered Key Lime pie in the freezer! I hope the next guest enjoyed it though

"Valhalla...Perfect vacation home"

5 of 5

Comfortable beds. Back patio and pool private and relaxing. The house had everything we needed (minus an iron). Close to restaurants,a grocery and the beach. Just a short walk to Duval. Would definitely stay here again.

"Something for everyone"

5 of 5

Valhalla had all we needed - close enough to the action to walk, quiet poolside, lovely design, well appointed kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. Parking is not ideal since the is no dedicated space, but everything else allowed my husband and me plus our grown daughter and her boyfriend to enjoy all Key West had to offer whatever our mood and energy level! We all want to come back and Valhalla will be our first choice for accommodations.

"nice house, clean, quite &private"

5 of 5

This property is located off Duval street. It is very clean, well stocked, private & quite. The furnishings are of good quality. The heated pool was great. Within walking distance of everything in Key west. Grocery store is about 5 blocks away on White street, it is a eady walk.

"Wonderful weather, wonderful property, wonderful time..."

Great house with outstanding decor. Very convenient to Old town and Duval Street (1-1/2 blocks). Pool is small but private and comfortable. Excellent outdoor landscaping and facilities.

"Private pool and outdoor area was exceptionally nice!"

5 of 5

Vallhalla is a special, comfortable place where total relaxation can be achieved. The floor plan and the eclectic decor are partially why this property is such a treasure. Our favorite part, however is the outdoor eating area and totally private pool area. You will not be disappointed!

"The most wonderful place ever!"

i will be back. My family loved it. It was just what our family needed. We felt at home not just in the house but in Key West. The location was perfect. We appreciate the attention to detail.

"Absolutely delightful - a gem"

5 of 5

2 couples had a lovely time in this pretty little house. It is excellently maintained, very nicely furnished, the beds are super comfortable and have good linen. We were always able to park outside, and it is in a good area, close to everything. Loved the designer touches in the pictures and accessories, and the outside area was much appreciated for drinks, barbecue, dip in the pool etc. We were so glad we found this property, and could not have expected more. The letting agents, Historic Houses, were excellent to deal with. Highly recommended. The Andersons, Australia, and Romzeks, Michigan.

"Beautiful place"

We are from Australia and stopped here for 3 nights with friends from Michigan. The home is just lovely with full ac ,good kitchen and a really laid back pool area could not tell you of a better place to stay while in Key West, loved it !!

"Lovely Cottage"

5 of 5

A lovely cottage located close to all and near Duval Street and everything is within walking distance or a short cab ride. If you bring a car there isn't a driveway so it is street parking. Finding a spot for a non residence can be a bit difficult. Look for a space that doesn't have markings indicated on the street. Our best advise, just park your car and forget it. The cottage is clean and decorated very nicely. It has all that you need to make your stay wonderful and relaxing. Pool area is a tropical paradise with lots of palm trees. This is a delightful home and I highly recommend it. It's great for one or two couples.

"Perfect Hidden Bungalow Oasis"

5 of 5

This place is gorgeous, relaxing, tropical, romantic, and private. We couldn't have picked a better place to vacation. It's located within walking distance to Duval but far away from the noise. Everything was provided for, we didn't need a thing, but to just wind down and relax which is exactly what we did. Loved every minute there and will certainly be back.

"Best Vacation Ever"

5 of 5

This home is really lovely and larger than we expected, having never been in a 'shotgun house'. Kitchen is small but fully functional w dishwasher etc. The house has everything you need (beach towels, laundry detergent, TP, etc) and the quality is great, eg crate & barrel dishes... The pool area is totally private, peaceful, and really quite beautiful. Never saw any neighbors, heard them once or twice but they were very quiet. Mgmt company was approachable and accomodating. We were there with our 2 teens, lots to do. Because KW is a party town and everyone sleeps late, we had no late morning parking dilemmas at the beach, unlike Sanibel. Wish we could have stayed 2 weeks. Can't wait to come back so our only concern is...if we are honest in our review, will Valhalla be available?

-D&K on 05/10/2014

The place was clean, the bedroom in confortable. Is not a place for young kid. Key West is't a perfect place for big guy's.

"Love - Love - Love Valhalla"

5 of 5

Valhalla was a perfect home away from home for my husband and I. As stated in the other reviews, everything about it is just wonderful. From the comfort and attractiveness of the furnishings, to the amazing original art throughout, and the super convenient location, we had not one complaint. The pool and outdoor area is completely private and relaxing and beautifully landscaped and maintained. We had another couple visit us for a few of the nights we stayed, and we were completely comfortable with 4 adults in the space. I believe that the online photos make the house appear much smaller than it feels and is. It's a very short walk to the quiet end of Duval and South Beach. Parking was not an issue at all, with a couple of non-resident parking spots right out in front and readily available. We didn't need to use our car much, but did use it to go to the grocer and liquor stores. Next time, we need to stay at least 2 weeks!

"A well-organized and relaxing paradise!"

5 of 5

My wife and I have shared Valhalla rentals with another couple over a number of years and have found the experience more enjoyable each time we return. The owner has maximized space with color and furnishings inside and out and has provided all of the tools and necessities to live comfortably out of our unloaded suitcases. The kitchen is bright and has good storage and organization for its galley size. The wifi and audio/video toys are good quality and easy to use. The original artwork hanging throughout the house is very tasteful and uplifting. And the outside covered porch with sizable pool is a real oasis. Combined with the friendly and responsive local property management, all of this makes it easy to return year after year.

"A Tropical Paradise!"

5 of 5

Wow! Let me start by saying I don't know the owner or anyone at the rental place. I completely picked this off the internet. What a vacation we had and largely in part because we rested our heads at a fantastic property. Myself + 3 stayed at Valhalla over labor day. We flew into KW hailed a cab, who drove us to Duval St to the office to pick up the keys. We were also provided a packet that included for our rental agreement and brochures that were selected for guests of this property. Bike & booze delivery? A+!We've rented places via the internet and been disappointed. When we pulled up we noticed a quaint and neat porch behind a white picket fence separating the house from the street. Beyond that was a lockable privacy fence leading to the backyard. We were unbelievably & pleasantly surprised as soon as we walked in the door. This bungalow is tastefully decorated and had all of the comforts of home. Spices, pots, pans, internet (if you need that in paradise) soap for the dish and clothes washer and on and on and on. Way too many to list. After picking rooms and setting down our bags, we each wondered thru the kitchen onto the porch and back yard. If all of the other items were not good enough, this part of the property just sent us over the edge in delight. The back yard was as tastefully decorated as the inside of the house! The porch had a beautiful dinner table and padded chairs were very nice (and an oscillating fan that was mounted on the wall). They were sitting on a smooth slatted wood deck that was perfect for tender bare feet. It was surrounded by tropical plants and palm trees. Sitting right in the middle of all of that was a great little wading pool. We even had a very beautiful green iguana that visited us a few times during our stay. This pool was an awesome way to end the evening after a day full of activities in the sun. We will without a doubt return and will attempt to book this little delight. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

"A quiet and private poolside paradise in the Keys!"

5 of 5

Our stay at Valhalla was perfect. The house is decorated beautifully and had everything we needed. The private pool and covered back porch allowed us to maximize our time spent outdoors. The house was within walking distance of great restaurants and not too far from anything else we wanted to do. We will definitely be coming back to Valhalla. Aside from the house being a perfect getaway, the guys at Historic Hideaways were a true pleasure. They were very helpful and provided us with some great recommendations.

"Everything Taken Care Of"

5 of 5

From the time we checked in I knew we were going to get good service. We got great recommendations for local (not touristy!) restaurants from a friendly agent. Then we went to the house, only two blocks from Duval on the Southern (quiet) end. It was clean and beautiful inside. The house is well-maintained and decorated with a Thai feel. We had plenty of towels (including huge beach towels) and a kitchen stocked with solid cookware and plenty of dry-goods. The pool area is private and perfect for late night dips or cooling off with a drink in your hand. We loved the canopy over the patio since it rained pretty much the whole time we were there. Wi-fi worked perfectly the whole time, even with four iPhones and two iPads. We had a blast. I had high expectations and they were exceeded.

"Best little rental house so far!"

5 of 5

This is the sixth rental house I've stayed at and it was perfect. House was well furnished and modern and the kitchen had everything that was needed. The backyard was by far the most private and quiet of any in the past The house is within easy walking distance to Upper Duval (quiet end) and many great restaurants. This is definitely a home I will rent again! Thanks for the great experience!

"Amazing accommodation"

5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our Key West holiday. There were only the two of us so we felt very indulged to have two bedrooms and bathrooms but that's amazing when you're on holiday and you get quite used to it.This property was beautiful and so well maintained externally. Inside it had a unique and endearing style which we enjoyed.I'm not sure we could have asked for more on our first visit to the US as a couple, it was outstanding so thank you so much. Everything was fabulous - top dollar.
